"The Filmmaker's 2.0 Business Plan: Revenue Streams & Today's Marketplace": A Case Study with Filmmaker Diana Lesmez

Producer Diana Lesmez has been at it for 4 years raising money for her latest project "Flights Of Fancy". She's currently in the process of the revising her Business Plan to better reflect current market conditions and potential revenue streams.

A lot of indie filmmakers find themselves in this position, so I caught up with Diana recently and engaged her for an in-depth look at the evolution of her Business Plan, how it's helped her so far, and why she bothers to keep revising it. In case study we also discuss:

• the underground resources she uses to collect data for her Business Plan
• the importance she's discovered in finding her target audience and how she plans to monetize it
• the supplemental materials to a Business Plan that have worked best for her
• how she 'jazzes' up her Plan for better presentation to investors
• the challenges she's faced with forecasting revenue for her film
• the real deal with comparables and why she decided to do away with them
• the value of a video teaser
• other documentation
• the value of development money
• how she stays on top of marketing & distribution trends so she can be completely current in her Business Plan
• the future and how she's projecting for things like iPad revenue
