2 Guys & A Sales Strategy -- May 15, 2008

Well, by the time some of you read this I'll be on a plane

to Cannes. What a crazy few weeks it's been preparing! This

is the first time ever I'll be going to Cannes NOT as a

seller, and NOT having to stand behind a booth for 10 days

and meet with buyers every half hour on the hour. Yippee!

I will say though that standing behind a booth for 10 days at

Cannes,I met a ton of interesting people from all over the world.

One group that always impressed me the most were the Producers

who were there making their own deals. They could jet in to

Cannes, take a few meetings, and then spend the rest of the

day doing whatever they wanted - and they weren't confined

to the Palais or sales floor.

Don't get me wrong, it's not an easy game to be representing

your own films to distributors, especially if you don't know

what you're doing. But I found a couple of guys in our Film Specific

community who kind of 'fell into it'...and now can't do

without it. In fact, they are getting such good results that

other producers are asking them to represent THEIR films

at Cannes.

So I wanted to share with you an Audio Case Study with these

guys - Vito & Bruno - and we're going to do a little before

and after thing. In this Audio Case Study they discuss how

they started working the markets on their own, how they

built relationships with buyers, all the little tricks they're

using to get their foot in the door, and what their strategy

is for the market.

Then, AFTER Cannes, we'll follow it up with how it all went.

What kinds of meetings they had, what worked in presenting

to buyers, and best of all, what RESULTS they had in closing

some deals. We'll also get to hear about any mistakes they

made and anything they wish they'd done differently, so we

can learn from that too.

So get up to speed with these guys and check out the Audio

Case Study now....and maybe I'll even get a mid-week update

from them while we're in Cannes.

Here's where you can check it out:http://www.filmspecific.com/members/640.cfm

And don't forget, our Guide to Navigating International Film

Markets is still available for Free for Premium Members

until the end of the month. It's a substantial download and

has got all manner of tid-bits on planning your Film Market

strategies (whether it's Cannes, AFM, whatever).

Alright everyone, the next time you'll hear from me it will

be from right in the thick of things. I promise to send great

updates - and if there's anything in particular you're interested

in hearing about while I'm there, please let me know!

A bientot!

Stacey*
