Live From Cannes: Update! -- May 20, 2008

Sorry it's taken me a few days to send you any kind of update from Cannes. It's been crazy to say the least. Needless to say, it's been a great learning experience so far (ok and a lot of fun too).

One of the things that's been enlightening, after spending some time at the Short Film Corner of the Festival, is that there is actually a market for short films out there. Yes! Now don't get too TOO excited - licensing fees still aren't where they need to be for you to necessarily make big profits, but it's good to know there are worldwide broadcasters out there who actually BUY short films for their networks.

To that end, I've compiled a list of TOP 10 SHORT FILM BUYERS, complete with contact details. You can get it right here: http://www.filmspecific.com/members/645.cfm

And if you want to take a little video tour with me of the Short Film Corner, check this out right here: http://www.filmspecific.com/public/658.cfm

Finally, I caught up with Stephen Follows yesterday of Access Film Markets. If you are self- distributing your film and are seeking foreign distribution, Access could be a great solution for you. It's also a great solution for anyone wishing to bypass working with a foreign sales agent. And they are currently taking submissions for AFM in November! You can watch the video interview right here: http://www.filmspecific.com/public/659.cfm

Alright everyone - I'm going to get back to work now. I'll do my best to upload some more videos and updates before the Market is over later this week (stable internet connection depending!) - otherwise, I'll get you more cool stuff upon my return to the States.

Until then!

Dedicated to your success, Stacey*
