EXPERT SERIES SEMINAR: Brian Stevenson, Exec. VP, Acquisitions, All Channel Film

One of the biggest profit centers for independent films is U.S. broadcast pay and basic cable networks and Pay-Per-View outlets. However, these distribution outlets seem to elude most filmmakers.

In recent years the landscape for distributing independent films on cable broadcast networks in the U.S. has changed dramatically. Some of the biggest indie buyers of the past have said goodbye to acquiring indie films in favor of focusing on original programming, while others have jumped in to become more prominent buyers.

To find out the latest on what's really going on in the U.S. broadcast distribution landscape we spoke with Brian Stevenson, Executive VP, Acquisitions of All Channel Films. All Channel Films is a sales agency specializing in U.S. PPV, pay and cable sales and has licensed programming to HBO/Cinemax, Showtime/TMC/Sundance, Starz!/Encore, DirecTV, Fox, USA Network, SCI-FI, A&E, The Disney Channel, Turner, American Movie Classics, WE, Odyssey, Oxygen, Trio, Lifetime/LMN, iNDemand, Speed Channel, E!, PBS, APT, AMC/Bravo/IFC, Ovation, Comedy Central, and many others. In additional All Channel licenses PPV rights to Warner Bros. for distribution to major cable providers and satellite providers.

Brian held nothing back as he discussed the current landscape for distribution and spilled the beans on the elements you'll need to fetch premium cable and lucrative PPV distribution deals, with outfits such as Warner Bros., as well as lets us know just what type of programming the big cable outlets are currently looking for.
