"Six Stages of a Pitch" with Independent Producer Suzanne Lyons
Suzanne dissects and details the six stages of a winning pitch - from tailoring your pitch to your audience, to creating a rapport, to focusing their attention, to selling your ideas, to determining the next steps and to the all-important follow-up.

"Secrets to Negotiating a Good Deal With Your Sales Agent" with Film Specific founder Stacey Parks
A discussion offering tips on how to split up rights, what to ask for, what expense caps mean, how to take the upper hand and negotiate a deal that's right for you, and more.

APRIL 23 (11am PST/ 2pm EST)
Expert Series Legal Seminar with Entertainment Attorney Corky Kessler
Corky will be joining us for this legal seminar to answer filmmakers questions on legal issues in Financing and Distribution. He'll also be discussing the biggest concern filmmakers don't pay attention to, what to avoid in contracts with a distributor, PLUS updates on Section 181.

Our monthly virtual town hall series will explore via Q&A and open discussion the issues affecting filmmakers today. It provides a forum to to get you questions answered, discuss strategies, share experiences with Film Specific founder Stacey Parks and your fellow Film Specific members.

APRIL 1: ANATOMY OF A DISTRIBUTION DEAL 2.0 - (11am PST/ 1pm CST/ 2pm EST)
We'll discuss the drastic changes in distribution deals over the past year and explore the types of deals independent filmmakers are negotiating now including the kinds of percentages and expenses that can be negotiated, how filmmakers can keep more rights when working with traditional distributors, the role of the distributor in today's landscape, and more.

About Stacey Parks
Stacey Parks is an expert in the area of independent film distribution, with over 13 years experience working with independent film producers. As a Foreign Sales Agent she has secured distribution for hundreds of independent features and programs worldwide. She has sold independent films and programming to HBO, Showtime, Starz, PBS, A&E, BBC, SkyTV, NHK (Japan), RTL (Germany), Canal Plus (France), and countless others.

Her clients films have premiered at Cannes, Sundance, Toronto, Berlin, SXSW, San Sebastian, and other major film festivals. Her clients include Sundance and SXSW award-winning filmmakers and producers who have secured studio and mini-major distribution.

Stacey is the author of 'The Insider's Guide to Independent Film Distribution" (2007 Focal Press), the founder of Film Specific, the educational resource and community for independent filmmakers focused on helping independent filmmakers get their works distributed, and she is an adjunct professor in the Entertainment Studies department of UCLA.

Stacey has been profiled and interviewed in MovieMaker Magazine, Student Filmmakers Magazine, The Christian Science Monitor and the Los Angeles Business Journal. She has spoken on numerous panels including the Alliance of Women Directors, Slamdance and the 2008 Cannes Film Festival, has presented lectures or workshops at the British Film Institute, UCLA, Women In Film, and the Raindance Film Festival, and frequently writes articles for MovieMaker Magazine, MovieScope Magazine, and Student Filmmakers Magazine.
