THE PRODUCER'S INCUBATOR: Want Help With Packaging, Pitching, and Financing For Your Film?

The Producer's Incubator is a THREE MONTH GROUP COACHING PROGRAM created for producers who are looking to decisively move their projects from development to funding and finally into production...but don't know how to get there. Summer Incubator kicks off June 2013!

BONUS: Participants receive a 4 month complimentary membership to Film Specific ($99 value)

"The Producers Incubator is the only course of its kind. Through it, I learned how to prepare pitch materials for markets and how to attach talent to our movies with a view to pre-sales and lining up investors based on what the going rates are for films like ours. I highly recommend that producers with experience and those who are just starting out take this course. Take the class, listen to the advice, and when you forget it, listen again. I listened, got our sales agents and have 3 films heading to Cannes in a couple of weeks for sales and pre-sales. And I still go back and listen again - just in case I missed something. There's just so much in this Incubator! Well worth it."

- Victoria Westcott, Producer

WHAT IS THE PRODUCERS INCUBATOR?

Producers all too often find themselves in the precarious catch-22 of being unable to secure financing without talent attached to their projects, yet unable attract talent to their projects without financing. It's a vicious, seemingly endless cycle. The marketplace is extremely challenging, no doubt about it, especially as more and more financing opportunities dry up. But there are ways to get out of the cycle and move your projects forward, even in today's tough marketplace. The opportunities are there, but it takes a very proactive producer to see them and to make things happen. Unfortunately, with so many obstacles, many producers simply can't see the way forward. And so they remain stuck, their projects stalled.

These are the issues that led me to create The Producers Incubator Virtual Intensive....

I have been involved in independent film for over 15 years - as a sales agent, a producer and a consultant. As a consultant I work with independent filmmakers on a daily basis helping them to see the opportunities for their projects and to package their films to attract financing. My clients range from newbie producers embarking on their first films to highly established award-winning producers looking for insights into the current marketplace. It was my one-on-one work with my clients which was the impetus for creating a group program - an incubator for like-minded producers - to grow their projects from script stage to film, while making it easily accessible to motivated producers EVERYWHERE.

The Producers Incubator is a THREE MONTH program (June 2013 - September 2013) - part virtual immersion, part group consultancy. The first phase is a four part immersion program laser focused on strategizing the finance and packaging plans for your project. The second phase is focused entirely on outreach and turning your financing and packaging plans into realities.

The program offers the most beneficial aspects of my consulting programs in a group setting and at a substantially reduced cost.

This program is geared toward getting your film made - it's focused on developing strategies for financing and packaging, then executing those strategies over the course of the program. In this program we cover:

    • How to package your project with talent that will help get your film financed
    • How to create a solid finance plan appropriate your film through equity, pre-sales, bank loans, tax incentives, crowd funding
    • Best practices for pitching your project to agents, managers, distributors, sales agents, and financiers
    • How to approach distributors and sales agents for pre-sale financing

WHO IS THE PRODUCER'S INCUBATOR FOR?

    • Filmmakers prepping projects in development to pitch at the upcoming AFM® Film Market
    • Filmmakers with a project at the script stage who are struggling with where to begin the process of getting it made
    • Filmmakers who want to start attaching talent to their film without financing already in place
    • Filmmakers who need to create a realistic and achievable finance plan for their film

This is NOT a program for writers who are looking to get an agent or manager or producers who prefer to take a passive approach to getting their films made. This program is about aggressive outreach for filmmakers who are serious about making their films. It is not for the faint of heart or the shy! You have to feel comfortable with "selling" and being proactive instead of reactive. For independent producers today, it's the only way to get it done. Additionally, this program assumes you are working with a completed, polished script that is ready to go out to talent, distributors and financiers so you can dive right in.

"I was so glad I found Film Specific and the Producers Incubator when I did. I knew the mechanics of production and getting a film in the can, but there's so much more to the process of actually creating a financially responsible and practical plan to execute the production of a feature film. It's so important in such an image-driven and high-stakes business to be seen as responsible, reliable and knowledgeable. Stacey Parks gives you a precise blueprint of the steps involved in assembling a film project as the small business that it truly is. It's all laid out very clearly, with an emphasis on creating a realistic, professional, sustainable business model for your film and yourself, so that you can not only create the film that you want, but also build the career that you want."

- Tommy Minnix, Producer

THE VALUE OF GROUP COACHING:

I've spent over 15 years immersed in the international independent film marketplace - as a sales agent, a consultant to independent filmmaker and a producer. I have presented lectures across the globe for film boards, at major film festivals and for some of the world's most respected filmmaking organizations. As a consultant, I work with filmmakers at all levels on a daily basis to help them move their projects forward, at every stage of production. I have cultivated relationships with sales agents, buyers and producers and know first-hand the types of projects they look for. I have seen the mistakes filmmakers make when trying to get talent, financiers and buyers on board their projects. Conversely, I have also seen many things filmmakers have done right to fully exploit their films in the international marketplace.

For a fraction of the price of one hour of individual consulting with me at my hourly rate of $500, you can become a part of this THREE MONTH program designed to guide you through aggressively and responsibly moving your project from script to movie. For a tiny fraction of your project's budget, the Producer's Incubator is a true investment in your project and your career...

DUE TO THE INDIVIDUALIZED ATTENTION I WANT TO BE ABLE TO GIVE EVERYONE, SPACE IS LIMITED TO JUST 35 PARTICIPANTS

PRODUCERS INCUBATOR FAQ's

Q: Is this program conducted "in-person"?
A: No, this program is conducted virtually -- all you need to attend is an internet connection and a telephone line (or a Skype online calling connection). We have done this so any filmmaker who wants to participate in this program can do so, regardless of where they live. While we have interactive "live" sessions, they are conducted virtually so you can attend from anywhere in the world. However, it is not necessary to attend the live sessions, as the recording will be made available for download at your convenience and you can always ask questions and get feedback on your project and strategies via the program forum.

Q: Do I have to be a U.S. filmmaker to participate in The Producers Incubator?
A: No. This program is designed to instruct filmmakers how to package and finance their projects and set yourself up for success in the international marketplace. It doesn't matter where you live.

Q: If I take this program, am I guaranteed to get my film made? Will you get talent and financing attached for me?
A: Absolutely not. This program is a group consultancy that instructs you how to do the work yourself. While we do offer a virtual "hand-holding" throughout the process, you are responsible for getting your film into the hands of talent, sales agents, distributors, financiers, other producers, etc. And you are ultimately responsible for getting it made. Your project must be able to stand on its own two feet in the marketplace. This program is designed to instruct and empower the filmmaker so you will still have to do the work and bring the goods.

Q: I have a project I'd like to get moving on, but the script is not completed yet. Would this program help me?
A: We strongly recommend all participants have a completed script that is ready to go out to talent, sales agents, distributors, financiers, etc. The entire second phase of this program is focused on outreach so getting your project out there is an extremely important part of the program.

Q: What can I expect to get out of The Producers Incubator?
A: You'll get as much out of the program as you are willing to put into it. You'll get a ton of real-world information including practical market intelligence, and individualized guidance for your projects, but your success in the program depends on your willingness to do the work that's required and the quality and viability of your projects. To see what others have gotten from the program, check out the testimonials on this page to see the results of previous attendees.

Q: How is The Producers Incubator delivered?
A: The Producers Incubator is delivered virtually via a series of interactive live sessions. These live sessions are conducted via telephone conference line (and online via Skype calling) due the the highly interactive nature of the program (rather than via webinar technology that at this time doesn't allow for the required level of interaction and ease of use for participants). The live sessions are recorded so those who can't attend live don't miss a thing. Additionally, dedicated online forums for the program are provided to interact with the instructor and fellow participants, ask questions or comment about the material covered and seek direct guidance on your projects.

Q: Will the live sessions be recorded if I can't make it live?
A: Yes, the live sessions are recorded in their entirety and made available to all Producers Incubator participants to download right after each call. In fact, in the past when we have offered this same program at least half the attendees did not attend the live sessions, instead opting for listening to the recordings at their convenience and communicating with the instructor and fellow participants via the dedicated online forums. How you participate in this program depends entirely on what works best for you.

Q: What's the benefit of a small group program like The Producers Incubator?
A: The benefits are many. For starters, it provides filmmakers with a highly interactive group experience that they can access from anywhere. Additionally, it provides accountability and the ability to learn from and successes and mistakes of other participants.

Q: I have some additional questions about the program. How can I contact you?
Just use our CONTACT FORM and we'll be happy to answer any questions you have about the program.
